Peter K. Cloven, EP, C.E.M. #1313, Principal Assessor
Mr. Cloven is a single-point-of-contact manager that can provide on-going client service from project start to finish. Mr. Cloven earned a B.A. degree in Biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley (1986). He has more than 30 years of experience within the environmental consulting industry including project sales, and staff/personnel management. His project experience includes over 1,000 ESAs, turn-key management of underground storage tank projects, multiple Phase II site characterization projects (including soil gas surveys, Geoprobe® sampling of soil and groundwater, hollow stem auger sampling and monitoring well installation), Risk Based Corrective Action (RBCA) risk assessment, remediation, design implementation, operation and maintenance, and site closure. Mr. Cloven’s clients have included the US Air Force, US Army Corp or Engineers, Nevada Department of Transportation, Sacramento Regional Transit District, insurance companies, lending institutions, and attorneys. Mr. Cloven has also performed environmental audits and prepared stormwater and air quality permits for industrial facilities. Mr. Cloven specializes in client relations, client services, and client technical consulting. Mr. Cloven also co-manages the environmental operations of PINNACLE including scheduling, client services and development, QA/OC, field work, and the development of ESA protocols and report formats. Mr. Cloven is an ASTM defined Environmental Profession, Certified Environmental Manager in the state of Nevada (#1313), and has ASTM certification in RBCA assessment and USEPA 40-hour HAZWOPER training.
Travis J. Stansbery, Operations Manager, EP
Mr. Stansbery earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of California Berkeley in 2015. He has been working with Pinnacle Environmental Inc. since 2010 when he began as an intern providing data analysis, mapping, and research activities for special projects. Mr. Stansbery is trained as a field assessor but truly excels in data evaluation and research for the “hard to get” data that makes the difference when forming conclusions upon writing a report. As an environmental assessor, Mr. Stansbery has completed over 400 TSA and ESA assessments. Mr. Stansbery is USEPA 40-hour HAZWOPER trained and has hands-on experience in several Phase II investigations. As such, he is experienced with subsurface field work including the collection of soil, vapor and groundwater samples under the direction of a professional geologist during Phase II Assessments and remedial activities. As operations manager, Mr. Stansbery redesigned and streamlined Pinnacle Environmental’s project ordering and report production process providing value added service and cost efficiencies to our customers experience.
Atef Elzeftawy, Ph.D., Hydrogeologist
Dr. Elzeftawy has over 30 years of professional consulting and academic experience specializing in soil physics, hydrogeology, and the geochemistry of radioactive, inorganic, and organic waste. Since 1974, he has been responsible for groundwater exploration, development, and management services for residential and land developers, agricultural and industrial sources. These services included groundwater basin studies, evaluation of well and aquifer hydraulics, aquifer modeling and yield studies, well field design and construction, water level and quality monitoring, and water well failure studies and remediation. Dr. Elzeftawy has managed studies of the impact of using treated wastewater as a supplemental source of irrigation for golf courses and agricultural land. Dr. Elzeftawy has been responsible for the investigation and characterization of numerous organic and inorganic waste and radioactive materials movements through soils and geologic sediments related to CERCLA, RCRA, and UST remediation guidelines. He has performed groundwater contaminant transport computer modeling of organic, inorganic, radioactive wastes through saturated and unsaturated geologic sediments. As a special consultant to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, he provided technical advice on issues related to the hydrology and geochemistry of the unsaturated and saturated zones in the development of the technical criteria for rule 10 CFR 60 governing the disposal of high level radioactive wastes (HLRW).
Isabella Colombo, Staff Environmental Scientist/Assessor
Ms. Colombo is a staff environmental scientist/assessor who graduated from the University of Oregon in 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Science with a minor in both chemistry and biology. Ms. Colombo’s collegiate experience includes laboratory and field work, and risk assessment. This experience and her innate curiosity to fill “data gaps” are instrumental in providing quality due diligence efforts on our clients behalf. Her investigative, oral and written skills make her an immediate asset to the Pinnacle Environmental team.
Leigh Cloven, Administrative Specialist
Ms. Cloven has worked for Pinnacle Environmental for 11 years and has been involved with all parts of the report writing process, from pre-assessment to site inspections. She excels at in depth research on sites and has been an invaluable asset in report preparation. She currently specializes in compiling and analyzing historical documentation including historical aerials, topographic maps and Sanborn maps.
Susan Chapam, Administrative Specialist
Ms. Chapman is an Administrative Specialist who joined Pinnacle Environmental in December, 2021 as an Administrative Assistant. She currently manages public records requests. She graduated from San Jose State University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science in English, and from Hastings College of the Law in 1976. A retired attorney, Ms. Chapman’s legal experience included representation of various county agencies. She has experience in accounting, tax research and planning, as well as tax return preparation. She is also a writer and editor. This experience and her innate organizational ability are instrumental in providing quality due diligence efforts on our clients behalf. Her investigative, oganizational and written skills make her an asset to the Pinnacle Environmental team.

Jane O. Baron, Professional Engineer #C39399
Ms. Baron has over 30 years of professional consulting experience specializing in geology, hydrogeology, and the geochemistry of contaminated sites. She is a civil engineer experienced in industrial site development and facilities improvements; process safety management; environmental audits; site assessments; investigations and remediation design and implementation. Ms. Baron has managed projects involving environmental compliance implementation; regulatory agency liaison; negotiations and permitting; media sampling; and data modeling, analysis and presentation. Ms. Baron holds degrees in Geology (1979) and Civil Engineering (1981), and a Certificate in Hazardous Materials Management (1986), and is USEPA 40-hour HAZWOPER trained. Ms. Baron is also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the National Ground Water Association, and the Association of Engineering Geologists.
Forrest Cook, EP, PG
Forrest is a Professional Geologist in the State of California with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Geological Sciences from the University of California at Santa Barbara. Forrest Cook has more than 20 years of experience in the geologic, geotechnical, and environmental consulting practices. In his over 20 years of professional experience he has worked extensively as the project manager of fuel and solvent remediation projects. Specifically, he has managed remediation projects for CalTrans, The City of Santa Cruz, Santa Clara Valley Water District, CAC Enterprises, PanCal Corporation, and hundreds of others. He is also an excellent field geologist, who has installed hundreds of groundwater monitoring wells throughout the State of California. Additionally, he is an accomplished Geoprobe driller, having logged hundreds of hours operating Geoprobe drill rigs. Forrest excels in technical writing, and has prepared countless environmental reports ranging from Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) to Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) and everything in between. In addition to being a Professional Geologist, Forrest is also certified in 40-hour hazardous waste operations (HAZWOPER) training. Mr. Cook has extensive direct experience with a wide variety of investigative and remedial technologies, including installation, aquifer testing and abandonment/sealing of various types of groundwater monitoring wells, and is familiar with the full range of drilling methods. He holds certifications as a California Professional Geologist, and has USEPA 40-hour HAZWOPER.
